About EditShare XStream EFS Scale-Out Storage and Brand New Single-Node Systems
The premium XStream EFS storage platform is a powerful, distributed, scale-out file system combined with a highly resilient architecture, specifically developed for media intensive workflows. It’s designed from the ground up to support large-scale workgroups requiring high-bandwidth, high-volume media ingest, transcoding, online collaborative editing and multiplatform distribution of HD, 2K, 4K and beyond. Whether a one-node or multi-node system, every XStream EFS model supports media sharing and collaborative editing with non-linear editing applications such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro X, Grass Valley Edius and EditShare Lightworks, and can easily be expanded to increase capacity and bandwidth. For ease of use and administration, all XStream EFS systems present a single namespace, regardless of the system size. And unlike many SAN storage solutions, the performance of XStream EFS does not decrease as storage use increases. Its continual optimal performance and outstanding reliability are backed by RAID 6 technology.
XStream EFS 200 Configuration Options
The XStream EFS 200 is a single-node configuration with 12 enterprise-grade HDDs offering 24, 48, 64, 96 or 128 TB of raw storage capacity in a 2U space saving form factor. The XStream EFS 200 is “EFS Native Client” compatible. Client workstations connect via a lightning-fast, multi-threaded client to achieve a performance boost of 20% or more compared to legacy SMB and AFP network protocols. In addition to media management capabilities such as advanced project sharing, the XStream EFS 200 ships with five Flow production asset management licenses and an Ark archiving application. For a full description of the XStream EFS 200 model, please visit www.editshare.com/products/xstream-efs-200.
XStream EFS 300 Configuration
For customers who need greater capacity and lower cost per TB (usable) than is available with XStream EFS 200, they can step into the XStream EFS 300. Equipped with 16 drives, the XStream EFS provides 28, 56, 84, 112 or 140 TB of usable capacity in a 3U chassis. Along with increased capacity, the EFS 300 has additional processor power delivering increased bandwidth capability and stream counts. Like the EFS 200 series, the EFS 300 is “EFS Native Client” compatible and benefits from a performance boost of 20% or more compared to legacy SMB and AFP network protocols. In addition to media management capabilities such as advanced project sharing, the XStream EFS 300 ships with 10 Flow production asset management licenses and an Ark archiving application. Optimizing Production and Post-Production Workflows with Flow
The expansive Flow production asset management platform adds an intelligence layer to EditShare shared storage solutions, offering extensive content indexing, search and automation capabilities to productions. The open platform also integrates a wide range of third-party solutions including Quality Control (QC) and file transfer system, connecting production and post processes for greater oversight of important media processes.
For remote workflows, Flow includes the web-based AirFlow and Flow Story applications. AirFlow allows staff to search, log, edit and play proxies in a web browser from any location. Users can securely download and upload proxy or high-resolution media from on-premise EditShare storage systems from anywhere in the world. With the same remote yet secure access to on-premise EditShare storage, the new Flow Story application lets editors and production teams directly assemble content, add voiceovers and collaborate with other NLEs for finishing, delivery or playout of packages beyond the borders of the facility.
While the reality of cost-efficient, secure cloud-based post-production is still in the distant future, hybrid cloud workflows provide the next logical step. EditShare’s hybrid solution combines current in-house storage with web-based tools, offering a safe, convenient and cost-efficient way to leverage the benefits of the cloud while minimizing the risks. The IBC2016 Innovation Award winner for content management, the combination features XStream EFS storage with integrated Flow, AirFlow and Flow Story for complete collaboration anywhere in the world.

TMD’s range of media service applications run on the Mediaflex-UMS (Unified Media Services) platform – a uniquely powerful solution for all aspects of software-defined workflow management. It is scalable, cloud native, and can run on premise or in the cloud.
TMD will showcase Paragon, an easy-to-use storage management solution that enables broadcasters, content owners and production companies to protect their video, audio, and physical assets long term using any combination of LTO tape, cloud, or MAID-III storage.
New Paragon features to be demonstrated include the native ability to explore Avid file systems, transfer projects, and complete clips or partial clips into and out of Avid storage. Paragon automatically extracts and stores Avid metadata and users can also create their own descriptive metadata templates. These functions allow users to locate, transfer, and start using content faster.
As a Quantum Preferred Partner, TMD now provides access to StorNext5 systems through Paragon’s simple user interface. Paragon can scale from a small office storage solution to a large multiplatform enterprise system.
For collections management, TMD will be showing their Guardian application. Already deployed at the Asian Film Archive in Singapore, Guardian provides workflows and functionality tailored to audio visual archive management. Organisations can manage, preserve, and deliver digital content while ensuring that the whereabouts of analogue content and artefacts are strictly tracked and maintained.
“With our established regional office in Kuala Lumpur, ongoing business with some of the biggest media companies in south-east Asia, and further improvements to our industry-leading platform, Broadcast Asia 2017 comes at a perfect time for us,” said Carlton Smith, CEO of TMD.
The TransMedia Dynamics Sdn Bhd sales team will be on hand to demonstrate the range of media service applications, and the unique benefits of the Mediaflex-UMS platform throughout the show on stand 4H5-01.
