ScopeStream for DM Series Monitors Now Available

ScopeStreamIcon_125The ScopeStream beta for BoxIO was released 2 weeks ago and FSI is pleased to follow that today with the public beta of ScopeStream for DM series monitors.

DM170, DM240, and DM250 monitor owners can now stream real-time Waveform and Vectorscope from their monitor to any connected Mac or PC. A highlight of ScopeStream is that video analysis happens on the display itself so scopes run as a low-load operation only requiring the computer to draw out the scope trace data being sent back.

“Many monitors offer built-in Waveform and Vectorscope, but showing these typically requires overlaying your reference image or clunky solutions like scaling your image to a non-native size to make room for scopes. Standalone scopes can be a great alternative, but these can be costly and for production environments mean transporting yet another piece of equipment. ScopeStream aims to address these challenges by allowing real-time Waveform and Vectorscope to be monitored on any connected computer without the need for additional equipment or expense.”

Flanders Scientific DM Series Monitors Now Feature HDR Preview Modes

All DM series Flanders Scientific monitors now feature 3 selectable HDR Preview modes. FSI CEO/GM Bram Desmet had this to say about these new capabilities: “Our aim with these new HDR monitoring modes was to allow users to leverage current technology for High Dynamic Range signal monitoring in production and quality control applications. While not intended for HDR mastering these modes do provide a simple and cost effective way to monitor PQ or HLG signals.”

Three monitoring modes are available:

  • Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG).
  • ST2084 clipping at approximately 300nits.
  • ST2084 with a highlight roll. This setting may be particularly useful in production environments as it will allow operators to visually distinguish all code values present in a PQ signal.

Current DM250, DM240, and DM170 monitor owners can download firmware with these new selections for free here.
